My Little Girl

Five more minutes
I don't want to go to bed.
My feet are asleep
But not my head.
I'll be Barbie
And you can be Ken
Mommy, can we watch
Blues Clues again?
Mommy I'm hungry,
I need a drink,
She can drive me crazy
I can hardly think.
It's wishing
on rainbows
And looking up at the clouds
Running in the rain
When it's pouring down.
It is a bicycle ride
On the tree lined street
A summer game of hide and seek.
It's blonde hair bouncing
On sun kissed cheeks
Painted fingernails
And skinned up knees.
It's princess dresses
With big pink bows
Smiles with dimples
And suntanned toes.
It is snuggling at night
And reading three books.
When I saw her face
I was hooked.
Not of my
tummy
Born in my heart.
I am glad I was there
To give her a good start.
So many in life have come and gone
But in my heart she stays strong.
My little girl has came along way
and I am thankful for her every day.
